1) Askinosie Chocolate: I am a total chocolate snob. There, I said it. It's not my fault though! For two years I worked at Bon Appetit, and almost on a daily basis we would receive samples of chocolate from all over. Therefore, I've tried zillions of types of chocolate, filled, unfilled, dark, light, organic, fair trade you get the idea. I can't remember how exactly it happened, but I somehow stumbled up Missouri-based Askinosie Chocolate, a small-batch, artisanal chocolate company that produces some of the purest and most delicious chocolate I have come across to this day.  Askinosie is a big deal. Their chocolates are made from single-origin beans and they use absolutely no additives whatsoever. What's in their chocolate? Cocoa and organic sugar, that's it! Askinosie is also the first producer in the US to press its own cocoa butter and the only small batch factory to make its own white chocolate from scratch. It doesn't hurt that the company in general is super eco-friendly and lets their farmers profit share, giving them a stake in the company.

It's hard to pick one bar I like best, I personally love dark chocolate and their 70% San Jose Del Tambo, Equador really hits the spot. It's smooth like butter with a sprinkling of cocoa nibs on top for a welcome crunch. Bars cost about $8 for 85 grams.

2) Bee Desserts: Wow, these mini cakes are rad! Image a hockey puck-sized cake about an inch high, light and airy, but at the same time incredibly moist and enveloped in dark chocolate. To me the cakes have a slight gingerbread flavor, though they are mostly comprised of flour, honey, and condensed milk. The deal here is that the cakes are made from honey in place of sugar, then covered in a 70%  dark chocolate shell. When ordering an assortment (flavors include Original, Liquor, Marshmallow, and Almond), a little descriptive sheet comes in the box advising you to refrigerate the cakes for a week before consumption for best results. The cakes can also be frozen and saved for a later day so no need to over indulge for fear of them going bad. Beware, these are highly addictive! $20/ box of four

3) Bakelab: Last weekend I saw Alice in Wonderland in 3D, and I loved it! In celebration of the movie, Bakelab has released a line of Alice in Wonderland-themed desserts that are so pretty and whimsical you won't want to eat them. Think chewy blue meringue mushrooms, red rose petit fours, unbirthday cupcakes (moist devil's food cupcakes with vanilla frosting), chocolate and vanilla taste-me cookies, sugared green pistachios, and pink/purple Cheshire cat macaroons. Check out the awesome photos here and order the set for $50.
