Good Bite's David Lawrence has shared his favorite lethal cocktail recipes, now here is one more alternative. Shake things up with sake, Japanese rice wine, in place of the usual vodka or gin. Did you know that sake actually originated in China, not Japan, and is more closely related to beer than wine? That's because sake is brewed from a grain just like beer.
I am personally a big fan of sake libations, they are slightly lighter than liquor-based drinks making them perfect for summer. Check out Rock Sake's Cloud Nineteen which blends the refreshing flavors of strawberry, lime, and ginger.
Cloud Nineteen
2 1/2 ounces Rock Sake or other sake
3/4 ounce ginger syrup
2 1/2 ounces fresh strawberry puree
dash fresh lime juice
1 Kaffif lime leaf (optional)
Muddle all ingredients together in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, shake, strain, and serve in a martini glass.
