Did you know that not all strawberries are created equal? First of all, if you're looking for a delicious strawberry recipe check out Jaden Hair's quick and easy Strawberry Country Cake which is basically like a take on the classic strawberry shortcake.

And on the subject of strawberries, there are over 600 different species! Take a trip over to your local farmers market and hopefully you'll be able to witness some of the assorted colors and shapes.

Typically, a strawberry's size is linked to the size of its water content: larger strawberries have more water while smaller ones have a more intense flavor. Beyond intensity, varying species of strawberries actually do taste different. Learning more about the different types will help you to navigate through the strawberry fields forever.

To start off slow, try the garden strawberry. These are the most common strawberries in the US. They’re large and have the traditional strawberry flavor.

Then, to take it a step further, try the ventana, which is a little lighter in color, larger in size, and has a good, basic strawberry flavor.

Rosa Linda, everbearer, earliglow, aroma, and diamante strawberries have a bright red sheen, are full of juice, and have a fantastic flavor.

The Camino Real strawberry has a darker color and great flavor. A unique characteristic of the Camino Real is its long shelf life, so you can buy a bunch and have them last.

Alpine strawberries are wild strawberries of France. They may be tiny, but they are full of exotic flavor. Similarly, the fragaria virginiana is a wild strawberry that is very small but juicy and delicious as well.

Finally, if you want something really sweet, try an albion. Albions have a darker color and a sweeter flavor than most strawberries.
