Brunch is a weekend staple in my book, and living in New York City there are tons of options. Some breakfast places are getting a ton of buzz as of late, and with spring around the corner, who cares about long lines. So when your head is a’hurtin', and belly a’grumblin', try these brunch spots worth rolling out of bed.

1. Vesta
Try: Hangover pizza
Address: 2102 30th Avenue, Astoria, Queens
This place has been getting a lot of hype lately, and rightly so! Delicious zesty tomato sauce, two fried eggs and salty meats make this dish hard to share. It is not uncommon to see a three-person party seated with three huge pizzas. The brioche burger is also heavenly.

2. Clinton Street Baking Company

Try: Blueberry pancakes
Address: 4 Clinton St, NYC
Recently featured on the Food Network's Throwdown with Bobby Flay and loved by all, Clinton Street's blueberry pancakes are a must-have. Be prepared for long lines, as the wait can run between 1-3 hours on weekends! Pancakes with maple butter get five stars from me, plus don't miss the sinful, crunchy, fried hash browns.
Tip: arrive early, (say, 8:30 a.m.) to avoid the lines.

For: Amazing customer service
Address: 782 Washington Avenue, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn
Want to feel like you’re coming home? Look no further than Tom’s in Prospect Heights. You don’t even need to get in the door to sample some of Tom’s delicious menu. On days when the line snakes out the door and around the block, servers bring out mugs of fresh hot coffee, cookies, strawberries and cream, and sausages, all without paying a dime. I love going here after walking in nearby Prospect Park.

4. Good Enough to Eat
Try: Waffles and home fries
Address: 483 Amsterdam Ave, NYC
The Upper West Side is strewn with bakeries, eateries, and brunch options, so good food isn't hard to find. If you’re looking for a great homey meal you’ll be dreaming about weeks later and can handle the wait, try Good Enough to Eat, a landmark in these parts. Make sure you try the waffle fries, home fries, and yummy strawberry butter and biscuits.

5. Stanton Social
For: Groups
Address: 99 Stanton Street, NYC
If you’re planning on traveling in packs, try this Lower East Side gem. Their brunch is a twist on small tapas-style plates for breakfast. Standouts on the menu include French onion soup dumplings, and the warm doughnuts with caramel dipping sauce. Reservations recommended.

6. North Square Restaurant and Lounge
For: Sunday jazz brunch
Address: 103 Waverly Place, NYC
My friend takes all of his lucky dates here and recommends the prix fix brunch for $20. The Jazz section has two seatings at 12:30 and 2:00pm; ask about sitting in the music room.

7. The Sunburnt Cow
Try: Unlimited Mimosas
Address: 137 Avenue C, NYC
The Sunburnt Cow's "Endless Brunch" (as in entree + bottomless mimosas) is truly worth the $18 price tag. Be wary, though, they will refill your glass like it's water. Recommendations include the Bush Benedict, but if you feel like splurging an extra $5, go for the Queen Adelaide Benedict (poached eggs with hollandaise, smoked salmon and avocado on an English muffin).

8. Veselka
Try: Pierogies
Address: 144 2nd Ave, NYC
Open 24 hours, this Ukrainian diner has been a landmark in the east village for over fifty years. Ukrainian traditionals like piorgies, borscht, and blintzes taste like they are straight from baba’s kitchen. For more traditional American breakfast items, try the waffles with raspberry sauce.

9. Walter Food’s
Try: French dip sandwich
Address: 253 Grand Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Billysburg is on the map for hip restaurants, hot bars, and fashionable people. Come to Walter for the fabulous cocktails, and stay for the brunch! You’ll immediately be charmed, from the bow-tied waiters, prohibition era décor, and friendly service. Grab a booth overlooking Williamsburg and order with abandon, everything here is superb. The brunch menu is quite extensive, from fried chicken n’waffles and chorizo scramble to my favorite, the French dip sandwich.
Tip: On warm spring days, outdoor seating is available.

10. Sarabeth’s
Try: Lemon and ricotta pancakes
Address: Multiple locations
If you took a poll of ten New Yorkers and asked them what their favorite brunch spot was, chances are at least two of them would say Sarabeth’s. They would continue to elaborate, raving about the lemon ricotta pancakes or the French countryside décor. Super cute and very romantic, the carpeting inside creates a cozy, living room feeling. You really can’t miss at this place. The four flowers juice is sweet nectar, a combination of orange, pineapple, banana, and pomegranate. Only thing to keep the patrons away is the wait. Good thing they have multiple locations. Check them out on the Upper East Side as well 1295 Madison Avenue.
