Yield 6-8 servings
Prep Time 1 hr.
Ingredients
- For the burgers:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed (add more garlic for the bold!)
- fresh cracked black pepper to taste
- sea salt
- For the sauce:
- 3 Tbs Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 Lrg Sweet Onion, finely diced
- 3 Cloves Garlic, mashed
- 1/2 c Pineapple, finely diced
- 1/2 c Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 c Ketchup, our Asian Ketchup works great
- 1/2 c Apple Cider Vinegar
- 3 Tbs Worcestershire
- 1 1/2 Tbs Fresh Lemon Juice
- 3 Tbs Brown sugar
- 2 Tbs Molasses
- 1 Tbs Deli Mustard
- 1 Tbs dry Hot Mustard
- 1 Thai Chili
- 1 tsp Sriracha Hot Sauce
- 1 tsp Soy Sauce
- 1 c Water
- Fresh Ground Pepper
Directions
Step 1For the sauce: Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and saute for a few minutes until soft. Add the remaining ingredients, then continue to cook for 15 more minutes. Taste for seasoning and adjust individual ingredients to create a nice balance between the flavor elements. Allow to cool a bit. If a finer texture is desired, puree in a blender, then strain and store. Otherwise, after cool, store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Step 2
Gently mix beef, garlic and pepper. Form patties.
Step 3
Right before grilling, season patties with sea salt on both sides. Oil grill grate, then grill! Assemble, top with sauce and serve.
